THE BLUM CLINIC MIGHT GO BANKRUPT IN DEFIANCE OF THE MORATORIUM ON BANKRUPTCY

The decision on the bankruptcy of the Blum Clinic seems to have been put into motion. And although the judicial act on the beginning of the procedure has not yet been adopted, the company has a chance to officially go bankrupt. Will the clinic of Dr. Blum, who is hiding from the law enforcement agencies, manage to become insolvent despite the pandemic and the government-imposed moratorium?

We should recall that the case of the Research Institute of Physical Rehabilitation and New Rehabilitation Technologies, registered as a commercial organization and operating under the Blum Clinic brand, caused a public outcry because of the Olympic athlete Maria Komissarova (now Chaadaeva). Training for the performance at the Sochi Olympics in 2014 became fatal for a member of the Russian national freestyle team. The girl suffered a spinal fracture, burdened by a vertebral displacement.

She got a treatment in Russia and Germany, after which the athlete's rehabilitation started at the Blum Clinic branch in Spain. As a result, from 2014 to 2016, Chaadaeva had a number of operations, spending a total of ˆ 627,000, but the motor functions never returned to her legs.

Then Dr. Evgeny Blum, who, according to the athlete, knew about the hopelessness of treating an injured spine in advance, was accused of the abuse of trust.

The numerous litigations that Chaadaeva had waged in the Russian courts ended with a decision that the clinic was obliged to pay the athlete 3 million rubles. Previously, the freestyler demanded 56 million rubles from the organization. However, the cassation instance eventually rejected the complaint.

Now Maria Chaadaeva is trying to prevent the bankruptcy of the clinic through her representatives. She believes that Blum Clinic is deliberately going bankrupt itself through a third-party company controlled by Dr. Blum.

The initiator of the process was the capital-based company Total Pass, which specializes in transportation.

The company filed a bankruptcy claim against the clinic back in June. However, the Commercial Court of the city of Moscow returned the statement, following the April Government decree No. 428 on the imposed moratorium. The representatives of the company had to file an appeal and indicate that the defendant voluntarily refused from the moratorium. Now the case will be reconsidered, although, according to Maria Chaadaeva, the company is controlled by Dr. Blum and is specifically filing a bankruptcy petition due to the insignificant amount of debt.

The "Total Pass" company, according to the open sources, has existed since 2012, and its co-founder Daria Churilova is a co-owner of several more companies. At the same time, no evidence of any affiliation of the company with a medical clinic has been found yet.

Despite this, Dr. Blum himself has been on the international wanted list since June.

The members of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation believe that a specialist in the field of pathological physiology and the holder of a doctoral degree in medicine has become a fraud. When starting an expensive treatment, he had to be aware of a simple fact: modern medicine cannot restore the motor functions of the legs of the injured athlete.
