WHEN WILL THE COVID-19 VACCINE BE CREATED?

The medicine for COVID-19, created by the specialists of the N. F. Gamaleya Federal Research Center for Epidemiology & Microbiology, may appear in civil circulation in the middle of August. This information was released by the researchers who are now working at the development of a vaccine against a deadly disease.

The scientists are gradually entering the stage of vaccine registration. Currently, the vaccine is to undergo an expert examination, after which the drug will be checked by Roszdravnadzor for 5 to 7 days.

The ambitious statements of the head of RDIF Kirill Dmitriev that Russia will be the first country to create the COVID – 19 vaccine do not find the full support among doctors and scientists.

The experts are not ready to publicly announce information about the beginning of the mass use of the medicine. Despite a number of loud statements that the vaccine against the "plague of the XXI century" invented by Russian scientists will become the world's first drug approved by doctors, the scientists are showing understandable caution.   

It is noted that the representatives of the "risk groups" and volunteers will be the first to be vaccinated against COVID-19. The full effectiveness and safety of the drug will still need to be convinced, and this will take time. The experts believe that the mass use of a vaccine on the market can be expected not earlier than in the beginning of next year.

The world is in full swing in a competitive race of pharmaceutical companies involved in the creation of the vaccines.

The American company Moderna, the development of which many connect with the high hopes, has already announced that it plans to sell the medicine for $ 50-60. Russian organizations cooperate with the UK pharmacists. AstraZeneca Company, in which the Oxford doctors are involved, also plans to release a vaccine soon. Most likely, it will be called AZD1222.

Along with Moderna, other industry giants from various countries are involved in creation of the vaccines. Researchers from the Chinese-Canadian company CanSino Biologics have already announced the close completion of Phase 2 of the trials of their medicine. The American Pfizer, German BioNTech, as noted in a number of sources, have already achieved significant results in development, and they may bring their drugs to the market by this fall as well. The British-Swedish company AstraZeneca can present similar results to the world. As the head of WHO stated earlier, at least 141 prototypes for vaccination of the population are being developed in the world.
