Svetlana Tikhanovskaya has prepared a video message to the citizens of Belarus, in which she has expressed her position on what is happening in the country.

In her message, the opposition candidate Svetlana Tikhanovskaya called for the streets to be named after people killed in the clashes. She also noted that she did not plan to lead the opposition, but it turned out that a huge number of people believed in her, and therefore she could not ignore what was happening.

“I am ready to become a national leader,” said Tikhanovskaya.

Tikhanovskaya notes that she is ready to take responsibility and act as a national leader in order to "get out of this endless circle, in which we found ourselves 26 years ago." Tikhanovskaya also added that it was necessary to release all the political prisoners and as soon as possible to prepare the legislative framework and conditions for the new presidential elections "real, fair and transparent, which would be accepted by the world community."

Tikhanovskaya noted the positive changes in the society of Belarus, saying that the people no longer wanted to live in a corrupt country and strive for a safe and happy life.

“The most important thing is the independence of Belarus, this constant cannot be lost under any circumstances,” added Svetlana Tikhanovskaya.

The representative of the opposition also mentioned the officers of the law enforcement agensies, who folded the shields at the feet of the Belarusians. At the end of the video, she addressed precisely the people in uniform, stating that if they decided not to follow the “criminal orders” and go over to the side of the people, the Belarusians would forgive them and would not reproach them in the future. Tikhanovskaya reminded that Belarusians should not raise their hands against each other, since they were the representatives of one nation.

We should recall that Svetlana Tikhanovskaya was the main rival of Alexander Lukashenko at the elections held in Belarus. According to the official results, she gained only 10.1%, while Lukashenko won having gained 80.1% of the votes, but the residents of Belarus and the headquarters of Tikhanovskaya strongly disagree with the results. The protests have not ceased in the country since August 9, and the protesters are brutally beaten by riot police. Tikhanovskaya herself left Belarus for Lithuania - Lithuanian representatives stated that she did it because she was "under pressure" in Belarus, and it was almost the only safe option.
