THE TRANSITION TO A NEW DRAFT AGE MAY OCCUR IN THE FALL
The head of the Defense Committee of the Federation Council, Viktor Bondarev, said that the draft law on changing the draft age could come into force in the fall of 2023. This is reported by RIA Novosti.
"The bill introducing these changes is planned to be introduced this spring. In this case, we hope to accept it in the current spring session," the senator explained.
Bondarev also added that the draft law on changing the draft age is currently in the works. He drew attention to the fact that it would most likely not be possible to adopt the law before the start of the spring draft.
Earlier, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu proposed to gradually increase the age of conscription of Russians into the army from 18 to 21 years, and the age limit is up to 30 years.
