THE MINISTRY OF INTERNAL AFFAIRS OF BELARUS CONFIRMED USE OF WEAPONS AT THE RALLIES
The day before, representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus officially confirmed the use of weapons against the protesters.
According to the security officials, warning shots were fired into the air to stop the actions of more than 100 people who were trying to release the detained opponents of Lukashenko from the law enforcement officers.
Protest moods in the cities of Belarus began a month ago after the announcement of the results of the presidential elections.
People express their disagreement with the official data of the CEC, according to which Alexander Lukashenko won in the first round.
In the first days after the announcement of the results, the security forces tried to control the protests harshly, using rubber bullets, water cannons, stun grenades and tear gas against the protesters.
According to the official statistics, over 6,700 people were detained, while many were released later and spoke of the torture they or their inmates were subjected for disagreeing with results of the election.
At the moment, despite all the difficulties and confrontation between the authorities and the security forces, the protests continue, while Alexander Lukashenko himself declares that has no intention to give up power.
