THE MAYOR OF MOSCOW RECOMMENDED MOSCOW COMPANIES TO MAKE DECEMBER 31 A DAY OFF
Sergei Sobyanin stated that budget organizations that were not involved in the pre-holiday preparations would have a chance to have a day off on December 31. The mayor of the capital recommended that other organizations follow the example.
As part of his speech for the Russia 24 channel, Sobyanin noted that he could not force everyone not to work on the New Year's Eve. However, the mayor added that he would recommend other Moscow enterprises to make December 31 a day off.
Sobyanin said that on the last day of the year, on the contrary, some of the city workers will be much busier.
First of all, we are talking about public utilities workers, transport employees, power engineers, doctors and emergency workers.
We should recall that the day before, Vladimir Putin came up with a proposal to make December 31 a day off. But this year the initiative will not have time to go through all the bureaucratic procedures, and therefore the decision to introduce a non-working day remains with the heads of regions.
If the corresponding amendment is adopted, Russians will have a new day off only in 2024. The fact is that in 2021 December 31 is already a non-working day, and in the next two years, the eve of the holiday falls on Saturday and Sunday.
