The prosecution asks for 10 years of imprisonment for Elena Kanunnikova, who carried diamonds worth 700 million rubles from the enterprise in her underwear. The woman worked according to this scheme for 3 years, having managed to steal more than 1000 precious stones.

The criminal case is being considered by the Dorogomilovsky District Court of Moscow. According to Kommersant, Kanunnikova sold diamonds with the help of four accomplices - some of the stones were sold to foreigners. All participants were accused of illegal circulation of precious stones and theft by an organized group on an especially large scale.

In total, 1,027 diamonds were stolen.

The Prosecutor General's Office asked for the maximum punishment for Kanunnikova herself - up to 10 years in prison. Her accomplices face sentences ranging from 4 to 8 years.

Kanunnikova worked for ALROSA as a chief specialist of the United Sales Organization, and the crimes were committed from 2016 to 2019. The accused took diamonds from the warehouse, replacing them with technical raw materials, and hid them in her underwear. Then she passed the stones to one of her accomplices, after which the diamonds were sold.

The woman was detained in June 2019, when she tried to take out diamonds worth 22 million rubles according to a worked-out scheme. During searches carried out by the FSS service and the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, about 500 diamonds and 11 cut diamonds worth $ 3 million were found in the apartments of the accused.

What is more, money for transactions that had been completed earlier, was found - $ 2 million and 500 thousand euros.

In addition, the law enforcement officers found jewelry of the well-known brands - the criminals invested money in it.
