THE AIR CARRIERS WILL RECEIVE 23.4 BILLION RUBLES SUPPORT FROM THE GOVERNMENT OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION

As a part of the provision of support to the most affected sectors of the economy, the Government of the Russian Federation adopted a resolution, regulating the issue of financial support for airlines.

For this purpose, 23.4 billion rubles were allocated. The money will be used to recover the losses, incurred in connection with the spread of COVID-19. To receive the support, the airline should submit a corresponding application to the Federal Air Transport Agency with the package of the documents, attached to it.

The state body has the right to consider the application within 20 working days.

The financial support can be used for various needs, but the most significant part (at least 60%) should be aimed at paying the salaries to the employees. Not more than 30% can be used to pay lease payments and not more than 10% - to pay for aircraft parking services.

The initiative to support the air carriers belongs to the president, who ordered to allocate more than 23 billion rubles for these purposes in mid-April. On May 7, the head of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation assured the head of the state that the government had developed a support mechanism and promised that payments would be made “immediately”.

We should recall that back in March, Russia suspended all international air traffic, except the charter flights which return the citizens of Russia back to the country. The restriction did not affect domestic flights, however, their number have significantly decreased due to the risk of infection.
