TAJIKISTAN AUTHORITIES PROPOSED TO LET CONSCRIPTS DEFER FROM MILITARY SERVICE FOR 160 THOUSAND RUBLES
The conscripts were offered to officially defer from service in the army by paying 25.2 thousand somoni (160 thousand rubles). Service in the country lasts 2 years.

The opportunity was officially included in the law ‘On military service and military duties’ - the changes appeared in January 2021. According to the new rules, conscripts can avoid military service and choose alternative service by paying a contribution to the budget. Alternative service involves a 1 month military training session.

The amount to be paid was approved by Tajikistan on August 16, 2021.

It was noted that not everyone who wants to undergo alternative service will be able to do this immediately. The state will allocate quotas - for each military conscription, there will be a certain number of places for accelerated service. If the conscript who paid the fee does not fall into the quota, he will be put in the queue for the next conscription.

Despite the innovation, the rule remains in Tajikistan, according to which only those citizens who have completed full-fledged military duty will be able to work in the prosecutor's office, the judicial system, and departments for combating corruption and enforcement of punishments.

Officially, Tajiks will be able to pay for the alternative the service in the upcoming autumn conscription. Another innovation is that students of military departments will no longer receive the ranks of officers after a 40-day training camp. Now the rank will be given only after a year of service in the army.
