State Duma will consider a bill prohibiting to mention nationality of a criminal
The initiative belongs to the parliament of the Chechen Republic.  If the bill is adopted, the media will be prohibited from mentioning the nationality of a criminal.

The authors of the bill believe that in this way it will be possible to prevent interethnic and interreligious conflicts in Russia.  In addition to information about nationality, it is assumed that the media will be prohibited from mentioning the religion of the criminals.

The document was published in the electronic database of the State Duma.

The initiators of the project note that the materials that form a negative attitude towards certain ethnic groups often appear in the media and social networks.  It is assumed that in this case, we can talk about limiting the rights of people of certain nationalities.  In addition, citizens are incited to violent actions.

In the text accompanying the bill, it is reported that careless words can cause a ‘social explosion’ and incitement of ethnic conflicts.  If the document is adopted, the changes will affect the fourth article of the Federal Law ‘On the Mass Media’, and amendments will be made to the administrative code.
Information about the imminent submission of the document to the State Duma appeared 10 days ago.
We should remind our readers that a recent incident with representatives of the Caucasian republics, who attacked a man with a child in Moscow, could become a ground for the preparation of the bill.  Then the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, called on the media to stop advertising their information product at the expense of Caucasians.  He noted that because of such materials, the future generations would think that the Caucasus is a separate state.

As reported by RIA Novosti, the representative of the Federation Council Andrei Klishas commented on the bill, noting that he supported the idea that the criminal should not have a religion or nationality.  However, the document requires serious discussion.
