Spring in Russia began with ‘raining sanctions’
March 1 was marked by the emergence of information about new sanctions against the Russian economy and individuals from all around the world. Japan, Turkey, Canada, South Korea, Singapore and Australia have joined the US, UK and EU sanctions.

Six persons of the Russian state fell under Japanese sanctions, including Vladimir Putin, Dmitry Medvedev and Sergey Lavrov.  Together with them, Valery Gerasimov, Sergei Shoigu and Nikolai Patrushev fell under personal sanctions.  This means that if any property or funds of these persons are found in Japan, all their assets will be frozen.
The Land of the Rising Sun imposed export sanctions.
49 Russian legal entities fell under them, including Rostec, Sukhoi, RAC MiG and some government agencies (FSS, Russia's military intelligence service).  Earlier, Japan also banned the issuance of visas to Russians, freezing their assets in banks.  The restrictions also affected the export of goods to those persons who may be associated with the military.

The European Union also supplemented the previous list of sanctions with the decision to impose restrictions on the SOGAZ company and several major Russian businessmen.  In particular, Igor Sechin, Nikolai Tokarev, Alisher Usmanov, Gennady Timchenko, Alexei Mordashov (Severstal), Petr Fradkov (Promsvyazbank) and Alexander Ponomarenko (Sheremetyevo Airport) fell under them.

It is known that the ‘raining sanctions’ also affected sports area. Russia and Belarus were suspended from international sports competitions by the IFC board.  According to this decision, hockey teams from the Russian Federation will not be able to play at the World Championship in Finland, the junior championship, the youth championship and the women's championship.

The IOC called on sports federations to ban the performance of athletes from Russia and Belarus at any international competitions.  It was decided to withdraw the Olympic awards from Vladimir Putin, Dmitry Kozak and Dmitry Chernyshenko (Deputy Prime Minister).
The International Taekwondo Federation published information on its website that it had stripped Putin of his honorary black belt (9th dan).
According to the federation's press service, military operations on the territory of Ukraine contradict the key principle of taekwondo: ‘Peace is more precious than victory’.
