Sberbank will start issuing mortgage loans to citizens from the age of 18
Sberbank announced a decrease in the minimum age for obtaining a mortgage to 18 years old. Previously, citizens aged 21 and older could purchase mortgage real estate.

According to RBC, Sberbank is ready to reconsider its policy and reduce the age for mortgage borrowers. It is assumed that Russians who have reached the age of 18 will be able to apply for programs for newly build houses and finished apartments.
The minimum down payment is 10% of the property value.
It is noted that the mortgage will be available  to citizens over 18 years old throughout the country, applications can be submitted at the bank's offices or online. Borrowers are required to have a working experience of at least 3 months and might be given a loan for up to 30 years.

Sberbank notes that more and more young people are planning to buy their own housing, and therefore they need to be given such an opportunity. The bank added that now young people start working early enough, and therefore by the age of 18, many are ready for an independent life in their own apartment.

Large banks prefer to issue mortgages to borrowers from 21 years old, since this category is more relevant. At the same time, the share of people under the age of 25 who already have a mortgage is quite small - less than 10%. However, some financial institutions offer loans for 18-year-olds: Uralsib, Saint Petersburg Bank, MKB and Ak Bars. Sovcombank and Gazprombank are ready to approve issuing of mortgage loans to persons over 20 years old.
