Russian Investigative Committee investigates bus explosion in the center of Voronezh
The day before, an explosion thundered in the center of Voronezh. The incident took place in a bus that was parked at a bus stop near the ‘Chizhov Gallery’ Center. It is reported about 18 victims, several of them are in a hospital in serious condition, one person died in intensive care.
The incident took place the night before at a public transport stop.
At the time of the explosion, there were more than 30 people in the bus, some of them ran out of the vehicle on their own, the rest received emergency medical assistance.
At the moment, the identity of the deceased woman has not been established, presumably she was about 35 years old, said a representative of the city ambulance station, reports TASS. The woman died in the hospital, before that she had both legs amputated and was diagnosed with traumatic shock of the third degree.
According to the Ministry of Health, one more person is in the hospital in an extremely serious condition, two in moderate severity, reports RIA Novosti.
In total, 18 victims have been reported to date, 13 of them were hospitalized, and others received medical treatment on the spot.
The reasons of the incident are still being established by the investigation, a group of criminologists has already been sent from the capital for this, and the FSS bomb technicians are working at the scene. A criminal case was initiated on the fact of the incident. The investigation believes that the main cause of the explosion could be a malfunction of technical equipment, as if the bus was illegally converted from gasoline to gas. The driver and the carrier company reject this information.
Earlier, the governor of the Voronezh region, Alexander Gusev, warned people spreading fakes about the explosion. He noted that such information will be sent to the law enforcement officers. Among other possible reasons of the incident, the investigators consider the transportation of explosive objects by one of the passengers and a terrorist attack. However, it was emphasized that a terrorist attack is unlikely, since there are no striking elements at the site of the explosion.
