ROSTELECOM COMPANY MADE A DECISION TO CLOSE A NUMBER OF BRANCHES

Rostelecom, the largest Russian provider of digital services, may close seven of its branches this year. The decision was made within the framework of the new development strategy - the company may make an official statement to the staff in the nearest future.

According to Vedomosti, several thousand people work in large branches that are about to be closed.

Majority of the employees may receive proposals for moving to positions in other departments within the company. The closure of the branches will give Rostelecom the opportunity to cut expenses by about 5 billion rubles annually. 

The functions of the company's large branches are reduced to the ‘in the field’ management of business processes. They oversee marketing, procurement, the technical part, and build relationships with large customers. 

This April, Rostelecom announced its development strategy.

The company's plans include cost optimization, including simplification of internal business processes. Within the framework of the new concept, the participation of branches in business management is not necessary - this function will be taken over by the corporate center.
