POSSIBLE CAUSE OF ASYMPTOMATIC COURSE OF COVID-19 WAS DETECTED
POSSIBLE CAUSE OF ASYMPTOMATIC COURSE OF COVID-19 WAS DETECTED
A study conducted by American scientists has revealed an unusual feature of the new coronavirus infection.
In their opinion, SARS-CoV-2 may have an anesthetic effect.
It happens due to the special protein compound that ensures the penetration of infection into the human body.
The effect on the body is expressed in the suppression of signals that are responsible for the transmission of pain sensations.
Thus, there is a possibility that researchers have found the cause of the asymptomatic course of the disease, when the patient does not even assume that he is suffering from COVID-19, since there are no signs of the disease, including pain.
According to the Russian Agency for Health and Consumer Rights, about 20 - 25% of patients infected with coronavirus carry the disease in an asymptomatic form.
In the spring, the Chinese authorities paid special attention to the so-called asymptomatic patients, since they can transmit the disease to the larger number of healthy people being unaware of their diagnosis.
The scientists' plans include further research of the discovered effect of anesthesia, which can later be used in medicine.
The results of this work have already been published in Pain magazine.
