For the second day, the wave of protests after the announcement of the voting results in the presidential elections in Belarus has not subsided.

People took to the streets, expressing their disagreement with the announced data of the election commission, according to which Alexander Lukashenko defeated the opposition candidate Svetlana Tikhanovskaya by a significant margin.

The situation began to escalate after the very first day, when the stun grenades and rubber bullets were used against the protesters, and one of the transport vehicles ran into a crowd of people and killed one man.

The day before, the riot police were sent to help the officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the police themselves began to use gas to disperse the demonstrators.

Yesterday it became known about another victim - a man who, according to the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus Olga Chemodanova, had the intention to throw an explosive device towards the law enforcement officers, but it exploded in his hand and inflicted the injuries, from which he has died. An operational team is already working at the scene, and the circumstances of the incident are being established.

It should be reminded that the current president of the country, Alexander Lukashenko, has held this post for the past 26 years, and now he is re-elected for a sixth term. Several more candidates tried to take part in the election race, but they were not allowed to participate in the elections for various reasons. Svetlana Tikhanovskaya became the only opposition candidate.
