NINE MOSCOW RESTAURANTS AWARDED MICHELIN STARS
The day before, Michelin stars were to Moscow restaurants for the first time.  Several restaurants received coveted awards at once, two of them - Twins Garden and Arrest-Chef's Table, received two stars, and seven more restaurants received one star.

The high rating includes Selfie, Beluga, White Rabbit, Grand Cru, Biologie, Sakhalin and Savva.  Moscow has become a pioneer among the CIS countries, where restaurants have received a similar rating.
Russia turned out to be the thirty-third country, catering establishments of which were awarded Michelin stars.
The history of awarding the honorary quality mark began in 1900 in France, when the founder of Michelin (tire manufacturer) André Michelin began to issue a travel guide showing places that could be useful on a trip.  Initially, the small book was handed out for free and did not have an overwhelming success.

Twenty years later, it was decided to sell the guidebooks for little money, adding information about restaurants and their price level.  It was decided that the high-priced establishments should be marked with the red flower, which is  widely known now.

However, the policy changed soon, and the stars began to be awarded for the excellent cuisine served in establishments.
Subsequently, the rating was replenished with two more stars - and it still exists in this form.
The criteria for choosing establishments remain a secret, but one thing is known for sure - the priority in this matter is the cuisine.  One star shows the high skill of the restaurant's chefs, two confirm that it makes sense to change the route of your trip for the sake of this place and three that for the sake of such a restaurant it is worth planning a trip to the place where it is located.
