NEW YORK GOVERNOR RESIGNS AFTER SEXUAL HARASSMENT ALLEGATIONS
The day before, the head of New York Andrew Cuomo announced his imminent resignation from a high post. The reason was the official's accusations of sexual harassment. The number of alleged victims has reached 11 people.
An investigation into the incidents began last year after the appeals from two former assistants of the Governor - Lindsay Boylan and Charlotte Bennett. According to Boylan, she had experienced sexual harassment for two years, until 2018.
The woman claims that the official offered her a game of stripping cards and even allowed to kiss her without consent.
Bennett spoke about the harassment last year. According to her, Cuomo showed interest in her intimate life and hinted at closeness.
After the statements of two ex-assistants, the state attorney's office carried out a check, which revealed that there are much more victims of the governor's illegal actions. At the moment, it has been established that at least eleven women were subjected to harassment.
Subsequently, the US President Joe Biden called
on Andrew Cuomo to resign - an announcement from the Governor of New York was
not long in coming. His term will expire in two weeks, after which the vacant
seat will be taken by Kathy Hochul, who will become the first female governor
on this post.
