ISRAEL BANNED SALE AND IMPORT OF ANIMAL FUR
Israel has adopted a rule introducing a ban on the sale and import of fur in the country - this is the first case of refusal to sell fur at the state level. The rule will affect the fashion industry, but there will be an exception for the purposes of science, education and religion.

According to the Minister of the Environment of Israel, the fur industry kills and makes suffering a huge number of animals, and the use of the resulting products is meaningless and immoral.

Critics of the amendment argue that the exceptions made in it practically invalidate the norm. The fact is that animal fur in Israel is most often used for religious purposes. During the feats and Shabbat, ultra-Orthodox Jews use hats - Shtreimels, which are made with sable and fox fur.

More than 80% of Israelis voted for the amendment; the norm will start working only by the end of this year. As a sanction for violating the ban, a fine of up to 75 thousand shekels (about 1.6 million rubles) or imprisonment for a period of one year has been established. Responsibility for compliance with the new rules has already been assigned to the Israel Nature and Parks Authority.
