Instead of plane and sea: what kind of vacations Russians will have this season

The Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) revealed a number of distinctive features of the summer holidays of Russians in the coming season.  This applies both to the terms of tours’ planning and their possible remoteness from home.

According to Maya Lomidze, the Executive Director of ATOR, Russians are not in a hurry to book hotels for July-August this tourist season, first of all, in the Russian resorts of the Black Sea coast, which may be due to the previously introduced ban on flights.

Lifting the restriction could have a positive impact on both the cost of tours and the success of the tourist season in the region as a whole.

In addition, the period for which the bookings take place has decreased. If earlier it was around three weeks, now it is two or less weeks. Another distinctive feature is the rejection of air travel in favor of the car. According to Lomidze, people are aware that the economic situation may change, so it might make sense to go on vacation by car and use the saved money to buy more necessary things.

In addition, ATOR’s analysts predict that trips by car and not far from home will gain great popularity in the coming tourist season. In the event that the sea is inaccessible for a number of reasons, people, wanting for vacations, will tend to nearby water bodies, Rossiyskaya Gazeta reports.
