First patient suffering from Omicron strain of Covid-19 died in UK

Prime Minister Boris Johnson reported the first death of Omicron strain of Covid-19. He also noted that the statement about a milder course of this type of virus was erroneous.

Boris Johnson said that people suffering from the Omicron strain also get to the hospitals.  And at least one person has already died.  Previously, there were no deaths of this mutation of the coronavirus.

Johnson noted that the Omicron was not a milder strain of Covid-19.

The British prime minister also recalled that the new strain had a very high spreading rate.  Johnson called revaccination the only way to protect against the virus.

In total, there are about 10 people in UK hospitals suffering from the Omicron strain of Covid-19/ Boris Johnson urged residents of the country to get a third vaccination before the end of the year to increase the level of protection.

According to the latest data, 16 cases of omicron infection have been recorded in Russia.

Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova said that they all were under surveillance.  Earlier it became known that the weekly incidence in the Russian Federation decreased by 7.3%.
