FINLAND IS GETTING READY FOR OPENING THE BORDERS WITH RUSSIA
FINLAND IS GETTING READY FOR OPENING THE BORDERS WITH RUSSIA
The Ministry of Health and Social Welfare of Finland is finishing work on a draft law that would allow opening the borders with countries having an unfavorable epidemiological situation, including Russia.
The purpose of the law is to let the citizens of other countries, where the situation with the spread of coronavirus is not easy, visit Finland.
Now there is a restriction in the country, according to which entry is possible only from those states where the number of cases does not exceed the number, established by the Finnish government. Among these countries, there are 12 countries of the Schengen area. Crossing the border from other states is possible only in a situation of extreme necessity.
Next week, the draft law is planned to be submitted for the experts’ evaluation, after which it will be considered by the parliament. However, it has not been established, how exactly the mechanism for ensuring the safety of the Finns will be implemented.
Most likely, people arriving at the country will be tested for coronavirus.
The final decision on the issue should be announced by the government next week. As for the terms, it is assumed that the opening of the border may not happen before Catholic Christmas.
