FAST METHOD OF ACQUAINTANCE WITH CRIMINAL CASES WAS DEVELOPED IN ROSTOV

At the initiative of the Southern District Military Court and the Main Directorate of the Federal Penitentiary Service for the Rostov Region, a project aimed at getting acquainted with criminal cases in a new format was launched.  We are talking about people who want to get acquainted with the details of their own cases - it takes a lot of time do it.

The officials decided to get out of the situation in a different way: they proposed a way for the applicant to listen to the audio recordings of the court sessions at which the case was considered. This option is an alternative to the now common form of familiarization, when the accused is given volumes of the case.

The project is currently being tested in the regional pre-trial detention center of Rostov-on-Don.

The scheme is as follows: the defendant receives an audio recording of the court hearing from the court employee. After that, he has five days to get acquainted with it. This practice of familiarization is used in the Russian Federation for the first time, according to the press service of the court, Interfax reports.

The pilot version of the project involves the suspects in respect of which the multi-volume cases are being considered. This practice allows not only to significantly reduce the total time during which familiarization with cases takes place, but also to save the time of the court employees. Previously, the latter had to go to the detention center with volumes of the case and personally be present during the procedure of acquaintance.

It is assumed that the stay of the defendant in the pre-trial detention center should be reduced. The process of the case consideration itself can also be accelerated, since it takes less time to get acquainted with it.
