Ancha Baranova, the professor of the School of Systems Biology at George Mason University, stated that even mild cases of Covid-19 can lead to premature aging of the body.
According to RIA Novosti, a corresponding study has been recently conducted among people who have had mild cases of coronavirus. Most of the patients were not even put to hospitals, however, subsequent pathologies of internal organs were found in 70%.
The main problem is fatty hepatosis (liver burden) and fat accumulation in the tissues of the pancreas.
The expert noted that such diagnoses are typical for people aged over 60, but among those who have had coronavirus, such symptoms are recorded much earlier. Baranova concluded that Covid-19 causes premature aging by taking important resources away from the body. She also recalled the need for further research in order to study the situation in detail and find out, what large-scale consequences the coronavirus can lead to.
Earlier, various groups of scientists have already reported that Covid-19 causes a number of negative consequences. Among them, there are hair loss, skin rashes, diarrhea, insomnia, etc.
