ESTONIA PROPOSED TO BAN RUSSIANS FROM ENTERING THE EU
Toomas Hendrik Ilves, who previously held the post of Minister of Foreign Affairs and later the President of Estonia, came up with a proposal to temporarily ban Russians from entering the European Union. The initiative is related to the aggravation of relations between Russia and the EU.
We should remind our readers that last Saturday, the Czech authorities accused the Russian side of the involvement in the explosions of ammunition depots seven years ago.
After that, the Czech Republic demanded the expulsion of almost two dozen employees of the Russian diplomatic mission from the country.
The Czech Ministry of Internal Affairs assures that people from the diplomatic mission worked for Russian intelligence department.
At the same time, Russians Alexander Petrov and Ruslan Boshirov were put on the wanted list. They were previously suspected of being involved in the Skripal poisoning case in the UK.
The Polish Ministry of Internal Affairs has already expressed solidarity with its Czech colleagues and supported their decision to expel Russian diplomats.
The Russian side, in turn, threatened to retaliate, calling the reasons for the expulsion unfounded and far-fetched.
On Monday, April 19, the Czech Republic plans to discuss the situation with the explosions of the ammunition depots at a meeting of the EU foreign ministers.
