Duty free stores can be opened on flights within Russia
Russian airports have come up with a proposal to open duty-free shops for domestic flights around the country. According to the authors of the initiative, the measure on the one hand will allow passengers to save money when buying the goods they need, and on the other hand, airports will receive additional earnings in a situation of a declining number of both flights and total passenger traffic.

According to Vitaly Vantsev, who is a representative of the board of directors of Vnukovo Airport, the idea is to provide passengers of domestic flights with the opportunity to purchase goods in duty free stores by the end of next year.

In many countries, this practice has already become widespread.

After all, the person has already paid for the ticket, which means he has paid taxes. And the more he spends at the airport, the better it will be for the state, Vantsev believes.

He also noted that at the moment, against the background of the current situation, airport revenues have fallen. Now they do not cover all the costs, they cannot do without government assistance.

At the moment, the proposal is under consideration in the Cabinet of Ministers, and in general, the initiative does not cause objections. The Federal Customs Service is also working on this issue, RBC reports.
