DUTY-FREE SHOPS FOR DIPLOMATS WILL BE OPENED IN RUSSIA
DUTY-FREE SHOPS FOR DIPLOMATS WILL BE OPENED IN RUSSIA
The corresponding Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation has already been signed and published. A checkpoint system will operate in the stores, which will not allow people who do not have accreditation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to visit them.
Visitors will be able to pay for goods, which include alcoholic beverages, jewelry, cosmetics, appliances, etc., using the national currency, as well as US dollars and euros.
In addition to the diplomats and consuls themselves, family members of officials will be able to purchase goods in stores.
Earlier in 2019, the Government already had a draft of such a resolution, which was prepared by the Ministry of Finance.
Retail outlets will be opened in the federal cities of Moscow and St. Petersburg.
It is worth noting that such an initiative represents a kind of reincarnation of the Soviet duty-free shops for diplomats "Berezka", which, in turn, were the successor of the "Torgsin" chain of stores.
