Dozens of monuments to Soviet soldiers will be demolished in Poland
The day before, the head of the Institute of National Remembrance, Karol Navrotsky, announced his intention to dismantle about six dozen monuments to Soviet soldiers in different parts of Poland.  According to the official, the corresponding list has already been drawn up, and the majority of local authorities are ready to take action.

Navrotsky noted that in case of situations of disagreement with the decision, he is personally ready to go to the region and listen to the arguments of the opponent.

For five years now, a law which introduced a ban on the propaganda of communism or another totalitarian regime has been in force on the territory of Poland.

This applies to the names of various kinds of objects, as well as public places. The adopted document also provides for the demolition of previously installed Soviet monuments. Over the past few years, hundreds of them have been dismantled in the country, RIA Novosti reports.

Russian authorities have repeatedly indicated that attempts are being made to rewrite history in a number of European countries. Vladimir Putin noted that Russia has an obligation to ensure the preservation of the memory of the Great Patriotic War and resist attempts to change its history.
