DAY OF THE RUSSIAN ADVOCACY IS CELEBRATED IN RUSSIA
On May 31, 2002, President Vladimir Putin signed the law ‘On Legal Practice and Advocacy in the Russian Federation’. This day has become an unofficial holiday for employees of the advocacy, who are involved in the defense of interests in court.

The Day of the Russian Advocacy was approved in 2005 at the Second All-Russian Congress of Lawyers in Moscow. It is worth noting that only lawyers working in the fiscal system have official holidays, while human rights and social institutions celebrate festive days on a voluntary basis.

Despite the unofficial status of the holiday, Russian lawyers are congratulated not only by their colleagues, but also by representatives of the authorities.

In the Soviet Union, the Day of the Advocacy was unofficial as well - it was celebrated on May 26. The date was chosen to coincide with the events of May 26, 1922, when the 3rd session of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee of the ninth convocation approved the first Regulations on the Advocacy. In 1972, the 50th anniversary of the Advocacy was widely celebrated in the USSR, and specialized badges were issued.

It is also interesting that there is no international day of attorney in the world (unlike, for example, ufologists and motorcyclists). The largest number of attorneys per capita lives in Israel (738 per 100 thousand people), and the least in Azerbaijan (9 per 100 thousand, but Azerbaijan officially has a Lawyer's Day).

In Europe, on average, there are 162 attorneys per 100 thousand of the population, while in Russia, there are only 50.

The Institute of the Russian Advocacy is one of the main guarantors of the statehood strengthening. The editors of Rusbankrot heartily congratulate the attorneys on their professional holiday and wish them fruitful work, victories in the field of protecting rights and freedoms and general well-being!
