CZECH REPUBLIC WILL DEMAND $ 47 MILLION COMPENSATION FROM RUSSIA FOR EXPLOSIONS IN VRBETICE
The day before, the Minister of Finance of the Czech Republic released information that the Czech government had estimated the amount of damage allegedly caused by Russian agents involved in the explosions of ammunition depots in 2014. The amount was about $ 47 million - in national currency, about 1 billion korunas.

The Minister expressed his intention to demand compensation in accordance with international law, noting that compensation for damage in a criminal case may take quite a long time.

The indicated amount is not the total.

The authorities of the affected region may additionally demand the recovery of non-pecuniary damage and the cost of property damaged by the explosions.

At the same time, according to the Czech Minister of Foreign Affairs, Russia will be held accountable after consultations with a number of allies. At the moment, the ministry is engaged in a preparation of a diplomatic note.

We should recall that the explosions in Vrbetice took place 7 years ago, and only in April of this year, the Czech authorities accused the alleged officers of Russia’s military intelligence directorate Alexander Petrov and Ruslan Boshirov of involvement in them.

Previously, men were accused of involvement in the poisoning of the Skripals in the UK.

After the accusations had been made, a diplomatic scandal erupted, as a result of which the Czech Republic expelled 18 Russian diplomats from the country, and Moscow responded by expelling 20 members of Czech diplomatic personnel.
