CORONAVIRUS MIGHT CAUSE HEARING PROBLEMS

The Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing reported on a new symptom of coronavirus - ear congestion. The ministry noted that this is far from a rare case, and a study conducted in Turkey confirms the new information.

According to RIA Novosti, Natalya Pshenichnaya, the Deputy Director for clinical and analytical work of the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing, spoke about possible hearing problems, connected with covid. She referred to a Turkish study, according to which 31 of 172 patients (18%) had such symptoms.

Ear congestion was recorded in 12% of cases among patients with a mild stage of coronavirus.

At the same time, the department recalled that a similar symptom occurs when having a common cold, and therefore it is necessary to go to hospital if the congestion persists for several days. Ear pains are possible as well.

We should recall that on November 4, a record increase in new cases of coronavirus was recorded in Russia - 19,768 per day. 15 567 patients have and 389 have died. Virologists commented on the situation, noting that a significant increase should not frighten Russians, since now there is a "rise" stage. There are fewer recovered than sick people due to the fact that patients who got sick a few weeks ago, during a period of low spread of the disease, are recovering at the moment.
