Fake QR codes used for visiting restaurants and cafes in Moscow may lead to up to two years in prison. Senator Andrei Klishas announced this today.

New restrictive measures give rise to new ideas for the business of fraudsters. Today, you can find fake QR codes for visiting catering establishments of Moscow on the hidden resources of the Internet. This was stated by Evgeny Voloshin, director of expert services at BI.ZONE.

At first, there were only offers to purchase fake vaccination certificates on dark hosting - the first announcements appeared in the spring.

Fraudsters guaranteed not only the receipt of a paper version of the document, but also the entry of data into a single database on the ‘State Services’ portal.

Now, after the introduction of new restrictions in the area of Moscow, attackers have added offers to purchase QR codes. The price of the issue starts from 11 thousand rubles.

According to experts, special applications that will be able to independently generate fake QR codes will soon appear in online stores. To fight dishonest visitors of public catering establishments, a similar program will be created to recognize fake codes.

We should remind our readers that since June 28, entry into cafes and restaurants has been prohibited for those who have not been vaccinated with one of the four Covid-19 vaccines registered in Russia (Sputnik V, EpiVacCorona, Sputnik Light and KoviVak). Citizens who had been ill with Covid-19 more than six months ago and those who do not have a legal medical exemption will not be able to enjoy the atmosphere of catering establishments.
