CHINA RECEIVED RUSSIAN MEAT WITH COVID-19 ON FOOD PACKAGING

According to Chinese customs officials, the authorities of one of the provinces of the republic identified COVID-19 on the packages of meet received from Russia. The virus was simultaneously found in several batches of a number of manufacturers belonging to the Cherkizovo group of companies.

In this regard, the receipt of goods from the relevant enterprises has been suspended since last Wednesday and for a period of four weeks. According to Chinese law, the fate of batches in which the virus has already been detected is disappointing: the goods must be returned back or disposed of.

The Russian side, in turn, has already begun to investigate the situation.

Separately, it was noted that the resumption of export of products will depend both on the completeness and quality of the materials provided as a result of the inspection, and on the measures taken after the end of the inspection.

At the same time, the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance indicated that the increase in the number of similar detected cases of COVID-19 may, among other things, indicate the strengthening of inspections in this area. The department has already announced a warning to Russian manufacturers about the importance of strengthening control over the packaging of goods exported to China.
