BANKRUPT AIRLINE SELLS MODEL AIRPLANES FOR 1500 EURO
The assets of one of the oldest air carriers in Europe, the Slovenian company Adria Airways, are put at auction. This time, the company sells 20 models of CRJ-900 liners.

10 years ago, the aircraft of this type were operated by the company on the Moscow-Ljubljana route. All the models are being sold in one lot at an initial price of ˆ 1,500 ($ 1,750). The applications should be submitted within two weeks, by 17 August.
Adria Airways has been continuously operating in the European air travel market for 58 years. The company went bankrupt last year after months of financial problems and a criminal investigation.
The Company filed for bankruptcy on September 30, 2019, having cancelled the flights to all destinations.
Then officials of Slovenia almost immediately called the owners of the air carrier "irresponsible." There were rumors that the state itself was planning to buy out the company’s assets, but the well-known financier Blazh Vodopivets called it a "socialist nonsense".
The bankruptcy trustee Janez Pustasticnik managed to satisfy the creditors' claims for ˆ 88 million during the process of bankruptcy. This amount included funds for paying salaries to the airline's employees (about ˆ 18 million). According to the experts, these funds have exceeded the estimated value of the assets that the company had. As a result, the bankruptcy process has led to unexpected results.
The European license was put at auction in January 2020, allowing the flights from any airport of the European Union.
Then entrepreneurs from different countries, including the Russian Federation, aimed at the asset of the company. Russian investors associated with the production of SSJ100 liners, as well as the entrepreneurs from the UAE, considered the possibility of acquiring a license. However, the legal requirements of the EU policy on attracting domestic investment (European companies should have controlling stakes) did not allow either of them to acquire an asset.
As a result, the Montenegrin businessman Izet Rastoder, known as "banana king", became the owner of all the licenses (including the operator's certificate) for a starting price of ˆ 45,000. Rastoder owns one of the largest European ompanies for the import and export of bananas (Derby Company). The businessman previously registered Air Adriatic, having done it almost immediately after Adria Airways had filed for bankruptcy.
Naturally, the rumors spread about the businessman's plans to restore the national airline. However, so far they have not found any confirmation.
Later, in March 2020, the bankruptcy trustee put up 1734 Adria Airways uniforms for sale at a price of ˆ 50,000, but there were no people willing to buy them - the company did not receive any money. Now it has come to the sale of Adria Airways Bombardier CRJ-900 aircraft models.
The models are made on a scale of 1:50 and have a length of 1 meter and 20 centimeters. Persons willing to participate in the auction should submit a deposit of one third of the price. Whether the bargaining will be attractive for the collectors is unknown. The previous auctions for flight attendant uniforms, badges and equipment for preparing in-flight meals turned out to be unsuccessful. And the old debts of the former airline from Slovenia are still outstanding.
