BANK DEBTS OF RUSSIANS AMOUNT TO ALMOST A TRILLION RUBLES
According to the Central Bank of Russia, over the past year, the total overdue debt of Russians increased by 22% and reached more than 976 billion rubles. It is noted that previously, the total debt of individuals, on the contrary, were decreasing.

According to Izvestia, Russian residents have 176 billion rubles more overdue debts to their banks than a year earlier. As of March 1, 2021, Russians had almost 21 trillion rubles credit obligations - in 2020, this amount was around 18 trillion. If we consider 2018 and 2019, then these figures were estimated at 12.5 and 15.3 trillion rubles, respectively.

Analysts believe that the increase in overdue debts is directly related to the pandemic and its consequences.

Obviously, due to the coronavirus, the financial situation of Russians has deteriorated significantly - almost 70% of debtors named the coronavirus to be the cause of their troubles. In just a year, the number of individuals with debts of more than 500 thousand rubles increased by 200 thousand people and reached 1.1 million.

At the same time, the Central Bank explained that the growth of overdue debts as a whole was not as significant as expected. The scenario could have been much more negative, but this was avoided, since the credit institutions did not stop issuing loans and even continued their restructuring programs.
