AN OUTBREAK OF MORE AGGRESSIVE FORM OF CORONAVIRUS WAS REPORTED IN VIETNAM
Last Monday, the Vietnamese authorities scared the
whole world with a statement about an outbreak of a new strain of COVID-19. The
incident took place in Da Nang. Extremely popular among tourists, it is the
third largest city in Vietnam, located in the very center of the country.
First, there was a message about four infected, and two of them needed urgent resuscitation measures. Later, it became known about 11 cases of infection in Da Nang itself and several in the province of Quang Ngai, adjacent to the city.
According to Vietnamese experts, the new type of coronavirus is more aggressive, infectious and causes serious complications much faster.
We should recall that the government of Vietnam previously adopted unprecedented security measures, which have had positive results so far. A little more than 400 cases of COVID-19 were registered in the republic, while not a single death was previously reported. The country found itself isolated as it practically stopped letting the foreigners into its territory. The few who were allowed to enter were quarantined first.
Now the authorities have completely blocked Da Nang, having decided to evacuate the local tourists (80 thousand people) from the infected city. The experts consider such measures to be justified, given that among the sick, there were four doctors working in the central city hospital.
The authorities decided to block the entrance to the city for all the tourists for several weeks.
The restrictions have also been introduced on the work of recreation places. Bars, massage parlors, nightclubs and other entertainment venues will be completely closed, and a mandatory masking regime will be introduced in crowded public places.
The representatives of the Federal Service for Supervision of Consumers Protection noted that they would analyze the new information. It will be possible to clarify the information about the virus itself only when the whole genome sequence of the strain that caused the outbreak is studied.
Are there any reasons for panic? According to the experts from the Federal Service for Supervision of Consumers Protection, Russians should not worry, since the restrictions remain in the country, and the results of a study on the causes of the coronavirus outbreak in Da Nang will depend on the material equipment of Vietnamese doctors.
