ALEXEI NAVALNY MIGHT RECEIVE A JAIL SENTENCE INSTEAD OF A SUSPENDED SENTENCE
Last Monday, case materials concerning Alexei Navalny appeared in the case file of the Simonovsky court of Moscow. The case concerns the replacement of a suspended sentence with a jail one.
Most likely, the issue stems from the criminal prosecution against the opposition leader in the Yves Rocher case, in which Navalny was on probation until the end of 2020.
This measure makes it possible to replace the suspended sentence with real imprisonment in the event of a number of violations.
At the end of last year, a message was published on the official website of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Moscow, according to which, Navalny is evading the control measures imposed on him.
The reason for such a conclusion was an article published in one of the serious medical magazines. According to the text of the publication, the oppositionist was discharged from the German Charite clinic on September 20 last year, and three weeks later, “all the consequences of the disease were gone,” states the FPS.
As a result, Navalny was notified of the need to appear at the inspection.
Commenting on the situation, the press secretary of the oppositionist Kira Yarmysh said that the inspectorate was aware of the fact of Navalny's treatment in Germany - nevertheless, a notification about the need to appear was sent.
At the moment, the materials of the case remain under control of the judge and information about their acceptance for production has not been announced yet.
