AIRLINES REQUESTED TO EXTEND THE MORATORIUM ON BANKRUPTCY

The Association of Air Transport Operators appealed to the Ministry of Transport with a request to the authorities to consider the issue of extension of the moratorium on bankruptcy for another six months, until April 2021.

AATO spoke on behalf of 23 airlines and enterprises, having sent a letter with a request to extend the moratorium to the Minister of Transport Yevgeny Dietrich. The Association believes that the measure needs to be extended, since the pandemic had too strong negative impact on the economy, which is still felt.

The appeal states that the crisis has especially affected the aviation sector - air transportation has not been restored yet.

We should recall that the moratorium on bankruptcy was introduced for a period of six months - from April 6 to October 6, 2020. At the same time, companies have the right to refuse from the moratorium, since it implies restrictions on the payment of dividends; many organizations have taken the advantage of this opportunity.

It should be noted that the possibility of extension of the moratorium does exist. In early September, Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Belousov instructed the departments to analyze the situation and report whether an extension of the moratorium on bankruptcy is required.
