ABKHAZIA IS ABOUT TO OPEN THE BORDERS FROM JULY 15
ABKHAZIA IS ABOUT TO OPEN THE BORDERS FROM JULY 15
It became known that the republic’s authorities commissioned to develop a plan for the opening of the tourist season from July 15. This was announced by the Prime Minister of Abkhazia, Alexander Ankvab.
According to the instructions, the departments should work out the possibilities of launching a tourist season, as well as make a final decision on whether it is possible to do this from July 15. The verdict will be affected by the epidemiological situation in Russia, in particular in the Krasnodar Territory - this is quite logical, given the fact that the tourists come to Abkhazia only from Russia.
Ankvab noted that the authorities of the republic were aware of the situation in which Russians had found themselves - the economic crisis, a blow to the trade flow and money circulation. The Prime Minister of Abkhazia added that the republic came out of the coronacrisis with the least losses and was ready to open the borders “almost immediately”. However, this should be done deliberately so as not to cause irreparable damage.
It should be noted that 38 patients with coronavirus were recorded in Abkhazia, almost all infected were Abkhazians who studied at Russian military universities and returned home for vacation.
There was one victim of the disease – a woman born in 1925, as the coronavirus caused serious complications. For the moment, almost all the infected have been discharged, 4 people are in the hospital.
Starting from July 1, the kindergartens closed due to the pandemic will be reopened in the country. So far, only diplomats, military and truck drivers can cross the border with Abkhazia.
