A PENSIONER FROM VORONEZH LOST 1.5 MILLION RUBLES DUE TO A FAKE BANKRUPTCY LAWYER
On August 9, the Voronezh police called on citizens to be more vigilant when dealing with fraudsters pretending to be bankruptcy specialists. The police pointed to a new type of illegal theft of funds from citizens in a contactless way.

Citizens via the Internet and phones receive offers for the provision of legal services that allow them to quickly go through the bankruptcy procedure. The victim of one of these "specialists" was a 65-year-old resident of Voronezh.

The swindler, who introduced himself as an employee of a legal agency, convinced the woman of the possibility of easily resolving the issue of bankruptcy. For a year and a half (starting in March 2021), a resident of the Ostrogozhsky district communicated with him, receiving instructions from the criminal. Their essence was reduced to the need to draw up loan agreements with various banks, and then transfer the loans received to the accounts indicated by them.

As a result, the woman lost more than 1.5 million.

Police representatives recalled that such crimes are being investigated under part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. It assumes responsibility in the form of 10 years of real imprisonment. At the same time, the investigation of such crimes in practice is complicated by the credulity and increased victimization of citizens.
