A NEW NAME WILL BE GIVEN TO SONY COMPANY

Instead of the well-known Sony name, a new one - the Sony Group, will appear in April 2021 and will mark the process of business restructuring.

The reason for such a decision was the problem of stereotypes prevailing around the activities of Sony. The fact is that this name is associated with the production of electronics for many people, including investors, despite the fact that for the moment, the range of the company’s directions is much wider.

The Japanese company Sony got its name back in 1958, when its founder decided to enter the international market. The enterprise had really been engaged mainly in the production of electronics for a long time, which is why it was associated with it.

Now, the management intends to break this stereotype. In particular, a decision has already been made to acquire total financial control over the Sony Financial Holdings.

The value of transaction is slightly less than 4 billion US dollars, and the process of its conclusion might be completed this summer.

Thus, Sony plans to acquire full control over the company, as currently more than a third of its shares are owned by foreign investors. It is expected that the financial services provided by the updated Sony Group will become one of the most profitable business lines.
