A DISABLED SCHOOLBOY WON A BROKEN LAPTOP IN AN IT SPECIALIST COMPETITION
The story happened in 2020, when a student from Nizhny Tagil was handed a laptop with cracks and an installed password for winning the championship for people with disabilities in the robotics category, which excluded the possibility of using it.

In addition, the laptop was not accompanied by documents indicating the date of sale of the goods, the seller, the warranty period established by the seller and other information that allows you to apply for a warranty from the seller.

The organizers refused requests to replace the prize, referring to its satisfactory condition before the transfer.

Then it was decided to contact the supplier to check the goods – a refusal followed. Then the schoolboy and his mother turned to the official service center of the Haier company in Yekaterinburg.

In accordance with the act drawn up in the service center, as a result of inspection and diagnostics of the device, the fact of mechanical damage to the body elements, as well as traces of unskilled autopsy, was established. In accordance with the terms of the manufacturer's warranty service, this fact is the basis for refusal to carry out warranty repairs.

Because of this, the schoolboy's family had to contact the prosecutor's office, which filed a lawsuit to protect the rights and legitimate interests of third parties. Following the results of the review, the court, referring to the results of the technical expertise carried out in the case, ordered the organizer of the competition to replace the laptop with another one.

Following the results of the appeal by the Sverdlovsk Regional Court, the decision was left unchanged.

In addition, the Ministry of Education of the Sverdlovsk region announced its intention to conduct an audit against the organizer of the competition in order to establish the circumstances of the incident.
