A COMPLAINT WAS FILED AGAINST HERMITAGE DUE TO THE NEGATIVE EFFECT OF NUDE SCULPTURES ON CHILDREN

The director of the Hermitage museum Mikhail Piotrovsky reported the receipt of a complaint to the museum. According to its text, nude sculptures can have a depraved influence on underage visitors.

As reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the words of the head of the museum, the Hermitage regularly receives negative reviews regarding nude sculptures. However, now we are talking about an official complaint from the government agencies, and therefore the museum is forced to respond to it. Piotrovsky did not specify which agency had filed a complaint against Hermitage.

The director of the museum added that once they were asked to collect all the nude sculptures in a separate room and admit let adult visitors to see them.

It should be noted that the issue of the "depravity" of nude sculptures is raised in Russia from time to time. For example, in 2018 at Novosibirsk State University during a forum with representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church, the nude sculptures in the foyer had to be covered with cloth.

A scandal was also caused by the sculpture from the exhibition “Michelangelo. Creation of the World ", organized in St. Petersburg in 2016. Then many visitors were outraged by David's nakedness, and a vote was even begun on the Internet on the choice of clothing for the statue. As a result, David still remains naked.
