Zaporizhzhia accused Russia of the invasion of jellyfish in the Sea of Azov
Alexander Starukh, an official from Zaporizhzhia, offered to sue Russia over the increase in the number of jellyfish and the disruption of the tourist season in Azov.  The fault of the Russian Federation, in his opinion, lies in the construction of the Kerch Strait bridge, as well as in the lowering of the level of rivers flowing into the sea.

The statement was made during a meeting that took place in one of the villages of Zaporizhzhia, reports Unian. According to Starukh, the increase in the number of jellyfish is associated with an increase in the salt level in the Sea of   Azov, which for several years has been insufficiently desalinated by rivers, including the Don.

The official blamed Russia for the incident, pointing out that the waterways were crushed due to the withdrawal of water for irrigation, and the construction of the Kerch Strait Bridge violated the natural landscape of the Black Sea and prompted jellyfish to migrate to Azov.

The official concluded that now it is necessary to calculate the damage caused and to file a corresponding claim against Russia. However, who exactly should carry out these actions, the official did not specify.

An increased number of jellyfish was noted this season in the Sea of   Azov, which made it difficult to swim in the water area. Invertebrates swam close to the shore, forming huge colonies and frightening off the vacationers.

However, a number of ecologists do not connect the incident with the actions of Russia, pointing out that Zaporizhzhia should establish the construction of the sewage treatment facilities, since the quality of water directly depends on the number of jellyfish in it.
