The smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi has filed a lawsuit against the US Treasury Department and the US Department of Defense. The plaintiff believes to be illegally included in the "black list".
The application was applied in the Court of Columbia District on January 29. Thus, Xiaomi is trying to contest its position in the list of the "Communist Military Companies of China". The plaintiff is confident that this title is incorrect - in order to protect the interests of the company and users around the world, Xiaomi asks to cancel the decision and declare it illegal.
Xiaomi was included in the American list of companies that are allegedly associated with the military industry of China.
The company has recently been added on the list - the Pentagon announced its update on January 14. Xiaomi applied to the court two weeks later, noting that getting on the list could cause serious damage to the company.
The representatives of the company stated that it had no affiliation with the Chinese military industry. We should recall that Xiaomi was included in the list by Donald Trump's decree of November 12, 2020. According to the document, companies from the military list cannot conduct transactions with individuals and legal entities, and the US citizens, who have Xiaomi shares, must get rid of them by November 2021.
