The United Nations has expressed serious concern about the videos of torture of war prisoners on the territory of Ukraine published online. Earlier, the investigation was reported both from the Russian and Ukrainian sides. Representatives of both countries strongly condemned the incident and expressed their opinion on the need to bring the perpetrators to justice.
According to the UN representative Matilda Bogner, the videos that appeared on the Internet the day before are of serious concern and are currently being checked.
The UN called on both sides of the conflict to investigate the cases. According to Bogner, such acts should be stopped, and those responsible for the recorded episodes should be brought to justice.
A few days ago, a video, in which supposedly prisoners of war were shot in the legs was published on the Internet.
According to the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, the recorded actions could have been committed at one of the bases of Ukrainian nationalists. The head of the Investigative Committee has already given instructions to investigate all the circumstances of the incident.
The Ukrainian side also spoke about the need for an investigation. According to the adviser to the head of the office of the Ukrainian leader Oleksiy Arestovich, such acts have no statute of limitations and are war crimes.
