THE MOSCOW CITY COURT MIGHT BLOCK YOUTUBE VIDEO SERVICE

Ontarget Company appealed to the Moscow City Court with a request to block YouTube video service on the territory of the Russian Federation. The case will be considered on June 5.

According to the Kommersant newspaper, this is the second lawsuit of Ontarget against the video platform - the first one was won by the company. However, it is interesting that the current trial concerns the same content, which means that due to repeated violation, YouTube might be subject to the anti-piracy legislation and might be permanently blocked.

The plaintiff, Ontarget LLC, is engaged in the development of the tests for the personnel assessment. In accordance with the materials of the case, the company requires the protection of the exclusive rights - YouTube allegedly posted tests, developed by the Ontarget Company in the context of “how to deceive future employers”. In 2018, the video service was obliged to delete the content, but it can still be found on the website.

Now the Moscow City Court should block not only controversial materials, but the entire YouTube video service, which would cause a wide public outcry. The experts note that the claim of the Ontarget Company is excessive and the Constitutional Court may intervene in the case.
