THE COURT WILL CONSIDER A LAWSUIT OF TWITTER USERS AGAINST FEDERAL SERVICE FOR SUPERVISION OF COMMUNICATIONS, INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND MASS MEDIA
A class action lawsuit was filed by Twitter users against the Federal Service for Supervision in the Sphere of Telecom, Information Technologies and Mass Communications in Moscow. The claims are related to a slowdown in the work of service, which the department announced this spring.

The position of the plaintiffs is based on the fact that they have never published illegal content or called for violence. In this regard, they view the actions of the Federal Service for Supervision in the Sphere of Telecom, Information Technologies and Mass Communications as interference in their right to free expression of their opinion, reports Interfax.

According to a representative of the plaintiffs, the rights of each of them are significantly affected, since the publication of media files constitutes a significant part of their communications with their audience.

By filing a claim, the applicants intend to check the legality and validity of the new technology of the Federal Service for Supervision in the Sphere of Telecom, Information Technologies and Mass Communications, taking into account that the department has plans to slow down other services as well.

The work with Twitter traffic began in March this year. The goal was the intention to force the service to remove prohibited content at the request of officials.

At the end of May, the Federal Service for Supervision in the Sphere of Telecom, Information Technologies and Mass Communications announced the removal of most of the inappropriate content, in connection with which it abandoned the idea of blocking the service, having returned the traffic speed on stationary computers, but having left the slowdown on mobile devices.
