THE CITIZENS OF SPAIN ARE SUING THE GOVERNMENT BECAUSE OF THE DEATHS CAUSED BY CORONAVIRUS
The Supreme Court of Spain received a class action lawsuit from 116 citizens, accusing the country's government of inaction, which led to the widespread spread of coronavirus and a large number of deaths.
The claims of the plaintiffs are to hold the full Cabinet of Spain criminally liable. The plaintiffs believe that the authorities had an extremely belated reaction and were inactive for a long time, which resulted in the human victims. It is noted that the information on the coronavirus has been known since December 2019. However, the first measures in the country were taken only on March 12. And shortly before the quarantine, in February-March, mass demonstrations took place in Spain.
The plaintiffs also accuse the government of inappropriate conditions in which patients were kept. Spanish hospitals were overcrowded and many people were already infected because of this.
In total, 3268 families of the victims are planning to join the lawsuit - they still cannot become full participants in the process, since they still have not received a death certificate for the passed away members of the family. We should recall that almost 27 thousand people died from the coronavirus in Spain.
