SOYUZ BANK IS TRYING TO RECOVER MORE THAN 254 MILLION RUBLES FROM 220 VOLT GROUP OF COMPANIES
On October 3, 2022, Soyuz Bank sent a statement of claim to the court for the recovery of 254,513,698,62 rubles from several firms belonging to the 220 Volt group of companies. The defendants in case no. A40-213239/2022 indicated "220 E-Commerce", "220 Volt Service", Trading house "North-West". The claim itself has not yet been considered by the arbitration court.

For the 220 Volt group of companies controlled by the head of the CCI Committee for the Development of Electronic Commerce Alexey Fedorov, receiving such claims does not bode well. The Holding is going through difficult times due to administrative restrictions caused by the pandemic and the market situation.

220 Volt is known as a trademark of one of the largest Russian DIY store chains, specializing in online trade in household tools. The company was founded in St. Petersburg 20 years ago. Over the years, it has managed to open many branded service centers and pick-up points. However, in recent years, the number of outlets selling goods offline has been rapidly declining. From 12 thousand it decreased to 5.5 thousand.

Despite this, in the spring of this year, 220 Volt managed to open several new stores at once in various regional centers (Samara, Barnaul, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and Kopeysk). In most cases, the company opens such franchise points of sale, and for the DIY market, the onset of the high season in March 2022 was accompanied by a 2.5-fold increase in sales. Russians were actively preparing for the holiday season, buying power tools and other household goods.

The general director of the network, Alexey Fedorov, in an interview with journalists at the time, stressed that the company has significant amounts of inventory in warehouses, and the company can provide the upcoming summer season in full. The head of the chain stressed that the main production facilities are located in China, and there are no problems with logistics. At the same time, 220 Volt brands occupy 4% of the Russian market.

Nevertheless, the data of the court file indicate that not only Soyuz Bank has financial claims against the companies of 220 Volt Group of Companies. The company continues litigation with the bank "SBI", as evidenced by the materials in case no. A40-150064. In particular, the bank demands refunds from the group's companies in the amount of more than 250 million rubles under the loan agreement concluded in September 2021. The next court hearing is scheduled for October 19, 2022.
